- What I Drive
- 2017 Genesis G90
I have a 2017 G90 3.3T AWD. Has about 62,000 miles. When the engine is warm, and especially when the weather is hot 80° or so), the car is jerky up to around 25mph. It’s not associated with shifting and it only happens in straight line driving, not when turning.
I don’t have a Genesis dealer anywhere near me, so I take it to the Hyundai dealer. The dealer diagnosed a bad transmission. $10,000 later, the symptoms are the same and the dealer has (oops) rediagnosed a bad transfer case. I think they’re just randomly replacing parts at my expense, so I have the car back and it won’t be getting Hyundai service again.
I inherited the car from my dad who bought it new. I think that it’s been doing this for a long time - he didn’t drive much for the last couple of years and didn’t notice things like this.
Does it seem likely to be the transfer case? Is there some diagnosis that I can perform?
