Lol...sorry. I snapped those from a video posted by a trucker; he thought it was a Stinger prototype. It got me curious, so I thought I'd share.
I guess they're doing something right, when they camo these prototypes so well that it throws everyone off.
The first car I tuned (Genesis coupe V6) was NA and the tune turned it into a totally different car. With the tune and I/E, I picked up about 60 max HP, and it drove so much better it was like a new engine had been installed.
But I do agree, you get SO much more for less with a tuned turbo...
I don't see anything on their site for the 2.0 but I'm sure it's coming, and I'm sure they will get plenty of power out of it. They seem to squeeze a lot out of the Optima/Sonata turbos, which I would bet are more restricted, so I'm sure we expect big gains for the Stinger too.
Do you guys down under have any laws protecting warranties? Here we have an act that states a warranty claim cannot be denied by the existence of a modification; they would have to prove the modification caused the failure.
This is just anecdotal, but, I have had two cars now that were tuned...
Agreed, it really is a relief. My current car has no spare, no tools, nothing back there other than a compressor; it's nerve-wracking taking a trip knowing that if you get a flat, you're at the mercy of roadside assistance, which could take hours.
The specs that have been released say it will have a spare, but, we've seen shots of the trunk and it appears the battery is where the spare would normally be. So, where does the spare hide, in the side of the trunk perhaps? Hmmm....
I honestly don't know, sorry. I recall a good number of owners upgraded their intercoolers, but, I'm not sure if it was due to cooling issues or just in the interest of maximum cooling.
I'm hoping Kia gives both Stingers a decent intercooler. My current car has a lousy stock one, (so bad that...
That's the beauty of turbos. Heck my current car picked up ~60hp, ~100 lb/ft with just a tune. They say you're taking a chance with your warranty with a tune but they drive SO much better, it's worth the risk to me...
With that version I want to say with just a tune they were unlocking 40+ peak HP easily. The dyno posted on BTR's site shows a gain of 51 HP, but doesn't mention if it was just a tune only. Either way, I recall people making big numbers off those tunes, so I can't wait to see what they do for...
I remember reading in one of the early Stinger articles that the 2.0 is related to/a version of the turbo 4 from the Genesis coupe. If this is accurate, SFR and BTR will have a tune for that one in no time, since they both still offer them for the Gen coupe.
I still have my fingers crossed...
You are so right about that; I love cars that you don't see coming and going (says the dingus that bought a damn mustang, the camry of coupes..lol). That's why even though I want the Stinger to be a hit for kia, I hope it sells in smallish numbers.
I LOVED that car; trading it was one of the dumbest thing I've ever done. I had it 3 years and 40k flawless, reliable miles and I'd still have it now, but noooo, I just HAD to have one of the new mustangs when they came out in 2014. I never stopped missing the Gen though, and still feel a little...
