Our car was always run on 93. In our case one plug went bad, so we removed the LAP3 and replaced all 6 plugs just to be safe, car ran good for a day or so than we started getting the same sputtering issues at part throttle. The dealer diagnosed the car and said that most likely the coil needs...

Quick question, why is the OCC a recommended mod with the LAP3 on the Optima? I understand how the OCC works, but why is it a mandatory with the LAP3? Is it because there is too much oil going back to the engine after raising the boost etc that it will foul the plugs?

We burnt through 2 plugs and are waiting for a coil pack also. We ran the car strictly on 93octane and still had these issues, we shouldn't have had these issues as the highest setting is for 93octane. Do you remember which cylinder the plugs and coil pack you had a problem with?

Very interesting, I was looking into the available OBD2 readers online yesterday. What a parameters are you able to log other than the boost etc? Also what is the peak boost you are getting.

OEM plugs even for turbo models usually come gapped at 0.043 (code 11), the 0.036 gap (code 9) is a special order apparently done for KIA exclusively. This is all my assumption though because I couldn't find any of the Iridium plugs from ngk pregapped with code 9. FYI, even the Denso's...

I think it is a special plug made for KIA so that you can only buy it through the dealer.
