305 Width Rear Tires?

Anyone tried a 305 rear tire yet on a 10.5"?

There appears to be quite a bit of room, and a 255/30ZR20 in the front with a 305/25ZR20 in the rear would look fantastic - giving the back end more meat!!

thoughts of this were from winter tires installed on factory wheels this weekend - 245/40R19 in front and 275/35R19 in rear, with TONS of room to spare.

5mm spacers were added after the fact all the way around to push the tires closer to flush, and it looks much better.

These really are the sizes Kia should have looked at as the factory size.

Back to the original question - has anyone fit a 305 in the rear yet? Black Friday is coming, and that's the right time to order summer wheels/tires!

I do believe one person has installed a 305 on the rear but I think he had to run a spacer. I run a 19x11 50 295 on the rear an I barely have any room between the tire & shock.
That may work, do you have specs on your rear wheels?

A 20X10.5” wheel with a 45mm offset could be a 5mm spacer difference, but it could work - a little math and measuring tape

Theoretically, being 1” (10.5” vs 11.5”) on the wheels alone, with the actual profile difference of about 3/8” on the tires, the installed width difference will be about 3/8” less than the 11.5

Unless I can find whomever did install a 305

The specs on wheels are 19x11 5x114.3 ET 50, there are a few guys that have 295's on 19's or 20's x10.5 with a 45 to 47 offset. It just depends on how much of the tire you want to stick out, I have like 1/8in sticking out, here's a couple of pictures..

Need to put this one to paper........

The difference between an 11.5” at 50mm and 10.5” at 45mm wheel is only 7mm reduced on the front side with 18mm reduced on the back side.

This is where the dilemma lies; how wide is a 305/25ZR20 on a 10.5” wheel versus the width of a 295/30R20 on an 11.5” wheel?

I’m corrected in rereading - your wheels @spider55 are 11” wide not 11.5”.......

This equates to 11mm on the back side reduced and only 1mm on the face side reduced.

Would a 305 bulge too far and poke out beyond the quarter panel?

Correct my wheels are 11in wide, If you went 11.5 wide with a 50 offset that would put the wheel around a 1/4in away from the shock then add a 305 tire an that would put the tire up against the shock. there will definitely be tire poke.

@spider55 no sir, the initial thought was to go with a 20X10.5 with a 45mm offset.

The inner clearance for this combination with a 295 or even 305 doesn’t worry me at all, it’s more the vertical outer side in reference to the wheel opening/quarter panel.

You will have very little poke with the 295 but the 305 will stick out more an you wouldn't be able to drop the car. I've never had my tires hit my fender or inner fender but I also don't hall anything in the trunk or people in the rear seats of the car.

Worst case I guess would be to have 3-4mm shaved off the back of the wheel mounting surface at a shop to gain a little more on the front side.

I think first run on the tires I’ll stick with 295’s on 10.5” and then measure clearances on a drive on hoist. This will be the test for 305’s

Hey you have pics of the 295s in the rear? I’m interested in seeing how that turned out. I’m going to be in the market for some tires and I have some Rohana RC7 20x9 in the front 10 in the rear and I am between getting 275, 285 or 295‘s. I’m pretty sure I can bump it up to 285 as I have 275 on there now on 19 x 9 1/2 so I’m sure 285 30 20 will work without issues. I’d like to know I can go to 295 and not worry about having to return the tires or resell them cause they didn’t work

You can run a 295 on a 10, just make sure the offset is cut right. I had my wheels cut for my car..

What offset? IO have rohana rc7 with a 40 offset
My wheel specs are 19x8.5 35 19x11 50. The 11in wide rear wheel is the largest you can install in the rear without spacers If you had a widebody kit installed you can go wider.

I'm trying to fit 20's and it's looking like 285/30r20 going to do a fitting today with 275/30r20 and eyeball it. Not that concerned about thew fronts. I'll settle for 235/35r20 or 245/30r20 up front. I may post a pic of it if I remember to take one.

you’re car is lowered too, right? I’m stock suspension and about to buy the below specs but wondering if I’ll be rubbing with 305 in the back.

Fronts - 20x8.5 +30 tires 255/35/20
Rears - 20x10 +48 tires 305/35/20

The front will be fine, but the rear will have wheel poke. There's only a couple owners that are running 305's & one of them have offset's like mine an they still have a bit of wheel poke. The wheel poke I have is like a 1/4 inch. If you do lower your car you will have a rubbing problem.
