Just did my 5k oil change. Put my OCC on around 1,500 miles. In 3,500 miles it collected about 1/3 to 1/2 cup.

Yes you do. The amount of crud/sludge it catches is well worth it in the long run for our GDI engines.

Actually any vehicle powered by a combustion engine will benefit from the catch cans.

The reality is that a GDI engine isn't "self cleaning" like an old fashioned multiport fuel injected engine. It is, however, much more efficient and has a more complete combustion cycle because of the new method with GDI.

It's either an oil catch can or is periodic fuel induction cleanings to fight the carbon buildup that will occur.

Any high performance car really *should* have them. The only reason KIA doesn't put them in is that KIA sells to people who buy daily drivers.. Catch cans are something you have to check every 1000 miles or so and empty etc..

But yes.. keeping that crap from being pulled back into your engine to be burned off is definitely better for your car's overall health.

And I might be wrong but I think the catch can installation is WAYYYY cheaper than fuel system cleanings... intake valve inspections and replacements etc..

Two hours labor + Parts and the custom bracket.. about 350.. tax included. And honestly to not have to bother with it, totally worth it.
Did you know your mechanic from before or can you solicit any repair shop to install this if you provide the kit?

I want to do this but I'm not a gearhead and messing with any hoses or anything in an engine freaks me out but I see the need for this mod with the GDI engine and certainly don't mind emptying the oil can at regular oil change intervals.

In reading this thread why can't this be an option for customers at the dealership service level? This is basically a step to help maintain your vehicle and avoid costly cleaning services/ issues later on. I get it most people don't want extra maintenance on today's cars but the advantages outweigh the little effort on our part to maintain the engine.

I'm writing this review on the ADD W1 V3 Baffled Oil Catch Can. These things are easy to install but, the hoses that come with the kit are to big. The hose that goes from the crank case to the catch can needs to be two size smaller and the hose that goes from the catch can to manifold needs to be one sizes smaller. The crank case hose I had to buy a reducer an the right size hose to make everything work. I tried the hoses that came with the kit but I could hear an air leak down by the PCV valve. I couldn't get the clamp tight enough, I now have everything air tight, so everyone that bought these catch cans check them. Make sure your car is warmed up an put your head down as close to the PCV valve as you can an listen for a faint hiss noise. If you all are like me you want to make sure its done right. I hope this review helps you all out.

I hope the guys at K8 stinger store see this to maybe take a look into it. I mean no disrespect to K8 stinger store or their product, I love the catch can, it looks great on the car, its just the hoses are a shade to big.

The nipple coming out of the crank case takes a 5/16 "inside" diameter hose, so the inlet hose that came in the kit is 3/8 inside diameter, so I had to buy a reducer to merry the two together. It wasn't that big of a deal , I'm just anal about my car on how it runs an performs. hope this helps you.

Maybe it’s just my commute, but mine is barely getting any. I have it hooked up correctly. Just not getting a lot. A good thing I guess
